Decent tool, some minor issues

I purchased the annual subscription for Writing Analytics, mainly for the Multi-Project Management Tool and the Writing Statistics Reports. The onboarding was pretty straightforward, and I appreciate the annual discount. The tracking features are quite robust and helpful for seeing where my time goes. However, I found the interface, while clean, could sometimes feel a little basic in terms of customization options. It does what it says it will do, but a few more themes or layout choices would be nice. Delivery of the service itself was instant, of course, as it's SaaS. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about a feature. Overall, it's a solid 4-star product that just needs a touch more polish in the UI department.

Good value on annual plan

I was looking for something to help me track my novel progress without breaking the bank. The 14-day free trial for Writing Analytics was a good way to test it out. I ended up going for the annual plan; that 20% saving definitely made it a better deal for me. I'm mostly using the Manuscript Progress Tracker and the Writing Goals Planner. It feels like a solid investment for my writing, especially at the annual price point. Definitely worth it for budget-conscious writers.

Great tools, easy to use

I signed up for the annual plan of Writing Analytics after trying the 14-day free trial. The signup was smooth; I just put in my card details and was billed immediately for the year, which saved me some money compared to monthly. I've been using the Distraction-Free Writing Interface and the Writing Session Timer daily. It really helps me focus. The Project Progress Dashboard is super clear, letting me see at a glance how far I am on my current manuscript. I had a quick question about exporting data for an old project, and support got back to me within a few hours with a clear explanation. Quality feels solid, no bugs or anything. Overall, it's been a great experience and genuinely helps my writing routine.

My writing has improved!

Oh my goodness, Writing Analytics has changed everything for me! I used the Writing Habit for Life Email Course and it really kicked me into gear. Seeing my Writing Streak Monitor grow every day is so motivating. I never thought I could be this consistent with my writing. I tell all my writer friends about it. I'm definitely going to renew my subscription next year, this is amazing!

Which Writing Analytics product for getting a writing habit established?

K KiranReddy 4 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
The Writing Habit for Life Email Course sounds like what you need. It's literally designed for that.

M MeeraDevi 4 weeks ago
It's super helpful for getting started.

A AnanyaRao 4 weeks ago
Is it included in the subscription or separate?

V VikramShah 4 weeks ago
Just the Daily Word Count Tracker and the Writing Streak Monitor. Seeing those numbers go up really helps build momentum.
7
N NehaJain 4 weeks ago
That's what I use too. Simple and effective.

S SanjayMittal 4 weeks ago
I'd suggest the full Writing Analytics Editor. It combines a lot of those features and gives you the whole picture of your writing habits.

Doesn't that get expensive?

My annual renewal for Writing Analytics just hit and the price was a bit higher than last year. Anyone else notice this? Wondering if I missed some kind of renewal discount.

P Pooja87 2 weeks ago
Hmm, mine renewed last month and it was the same price. Maybe it depends on when you originally subscribed? Or if you had an early bird pricing deal that expired?
3
V VikramR 2 weeks ago
Could be the early bird thing. I signed up pretty early on.
4
A AnjaliP 2 weeks ago
Same here! I thought I was crazy. Mine went up by about 15%. No idea why, didn't see any email about it.

Yeah, I'm planning to. Just wanted to see if it was just me.

I always pay monthly to avoid this. Haven't seen a price change yet.

Not always by much, and gives more flexibility.

Monthly is usually more expensive overall though, right?

Finally switched over to Writing Analytics from just using a spreadsheet. The Project Progress Dashboard is already a game-changer for me. Feeling way more organized.

P PriyaS 1 month ago
Oh nice! I've been thinking about doing that. Is it really that much better than a spreadsheet for tracking word counts and stuff?
1
R RahulK 1 month ago
For me, yes. The visualization helps so much more than just numbers.
1
D Deepak91 1 month ago
Totally. Spreadsheets get messy fast if you're tracking multiple projects.

Welcome to the club! Been using it for months now. The Writing Streak Monitor really keeps me accountable.

How did the 14-day trial work out for you before committing? Did you explore the Writing Habit for Life course too?
2
M MeeraJ 1 month ago
The course is included, right? I heard it was pretty solid for habit building.
7
R RahulK 1 month ago
Trial was good, gave me enough time to poke around. Didn't deep dive into the course yet, just focused on the tracking features first.

Is the Writing Habit for Life course included with the subscription, or is that extra?

M Mia 2 months ago
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's part of the main subscription. I got it when I signed up.

N Neil Lindqvist 1 month ago
It was included with my plan, afaik it's just part of the package now. You don't have to pay extra for it.

Thinking about getting this for my NaNoWriMo project this year. Is it really better than just using a spreadsheet to track words?

K Kate Y. 2 months ago
Oh yeah, totally. A spreadsheet is fine for just numbers but this thing actually gives you insights and charts. Way more motivating.
6
T Troy 2 months ago
It's night and day, honestly. A spreadsheet is just data. This helps you *use* that data to actually build a habit, with streaks and goals and all that. Plus, the editor is distraction-free which is a huge bonus.

Thinking of getting Writing Analytics, worth it for a hobbyist writer?

A AmitPatel 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Definitely! I'm a hobbyist and the Writing Tracker and Writing Goals Planner changed everything for me. Seeing my progress keeps me going.

P PriyaSharma 1 month ago
Oh, that sounds good. I struggle with consistency.
6
S SnehaGupta 1 month ago
The streak monitor is surprisingly motivating.
8
D DeepakKumar 1 month ago
I say yes. The Distraction-Free Writing Interface alone is worth it if you get sidetracked easily. Plus, they have a 14-day free trial so no risk.
7
P PriyaSharma 1 month ago
Good point about the trial. I'll check that out.
3
P PoojaSingh 1 month ago
The interface is great, agreed.
5
R RahulMehta 1 month ago
Honestly, if you're just dabbling, a spreadsheet might be enough. I tried the trial and it was a bit much for my casual writing.
2
P PriyaSharma 1 month ago
Hmm, I'm trying to be less casual though.

Do they ever do a lifetime deal? I'm trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet on the annual plan or wait.

J Julia Brooks 1 month ago
I've been using it for a couple years now and haven't seen one. They usually just push the annual subscription discount pretty hard.
4
S Sam K. 1 month ago
Nah, I don't think they do lifetime deals. Your best bet is probably the annual plan for the discount, or maybe keeping an eye out for Black Friday, but even then it's usually just a bigger annual discount.

how does this compare to something like Scrivener for tracking? i use scrivener for actually writing but the tracking there is kinda basic.

T Tara Foster 2 months ago
Totally different beasts. Scrivener is amazing for organizing and writing. Writing Analytics is all about the *habit* and *stats*. It won't replace Scrivener for the writing part, but it'll give you way better insights into your actual writing process.
0
F Faith Romero 1 month ago
Scrivener's word count is just a number. This tells you when you're most productive, how long your sessions are, if you're hitting your goals consistently. It's more about the 'how' you write than just 'what' you wrote.
